SPIRIT, SOUL & BODY!  [Week 2]

Message: “The Kingdom in Us” from Matt France

A message from the series “The Kingdom in Us.” 1. THERE WAS A TIME where The Kingdom of God was to come
~Mark 1: 4-5 4
John appeared, baptising in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5 And all the country of Judea and all Jerusalem were going out to him and were being baptised by him in the river Jordan

~Mark 1: 7-8 7
And he [John] preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I have baptised you with water, but he will baptise you with the Holy Spirit.”

2. THERE IS A TIME whereby The Kingdom of God has come
~Luke 17: 20-21
Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he [Jesus] answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed, 21 nor will they [people] say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.”

3. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A TIME where The Kingdom of God reigns
~Luke 1: 32-33 JESUS REIGN IS ENDLESS
He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

~Hebrews 1: 1, 8 – JESUS REIGNS
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. 8 Of the Son he says, “Your throne, is forever and ever, he sceptre of uprightness is the sceptre of your kingdom.

~1 Peter 1: 3-4 – JESUS’ REING IS GIVEN
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading…..

~Galatians 4: 6-7 – SPIRIT OF GOD & INHERITANCE
because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

~Galatians 5: 18, – PRESENCE OF GOD & INHERITANCE
…if you are led by the Spirit, you will inherit the kingdom of God.

~Ephesians 3: 14-19
14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family[c] in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Albert Einstein: “Insanity is doing the same thing over expecting different results.”

~Ephesians 1: 20-23 MSG
God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from his rule. And not just for the time being, but forever. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything. At the center of all this, Christ rules the church. The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church. The church is Christ’s body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence.

Message: “How do I know God is with me?” from Ioannis Dekas

A message from the series “We are SENT Ones.” We are SENT ONES #5 SENT to Stand Strong!
~2 TIMOTHY 1: 5
I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

1. You might experience failure and disappointment
Why does apparent failure devastate us?

2. We often, irrationally confuse failing with being a failure.
When we find ourselves ‘SENT’ by the Holy Spirit, we will often find ourselves in an environment of uncertainty.

3. As you are ‘SENT’ remember to pray.
~PHILIPPIANS 4:4
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

LOVE CHANGES EVERYTHING
“Over the last few weeks we’ve reminded ourselves several times of the vision statement that we have as a church. Today we are excited to be sharing some fantastic moments of story and God-impact people have seen and know to have been the source of God and the outcome of transformed life.”
[We are so grateful to each person who shared today and want to invite you to put faith in the Lord Jesus for many more stories]

God’s Transforming Presence:
We believe in a God who is alive and is always active and always available.

~GALATIANS 5: 13 TPT
“Beloved ones, God has called us to live a life of freedom.
(But don’t view this wonderful freedom as an excuse to set up a base of operations in the natural realm).
Constantly love each other and be committed to serve one another”

~ROMANS 5: 8 TPT
“But Christ proved God’s passionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly!”

~1 PETER 2: 9
“But you are God’s chosen treasure
( —priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. )
He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world.”

~GALATIANS 5: 13 TPT
Beloved… constantly love each other and be committed to serve one another

Questions for reflection [during Church at Home / Hotspots / Devotionals]
1. How can I act in that way?
2. How can I be the transforming nature of God in the areas and relationships I live and work in?

Message: “Generous Living: What do I need to be generous?” from Matt France

A message from the series “We are SENT Ones.” We Are SENT Ones is a new teaching focus for us that will carry through to the end of May.
In Week 1 the focus is generosity. As you think about generosity you might ask “What do I need to be generous?” Well…. Matt unpacks that for us here and sets the ground for what else comes as we reiterate that we are sent ones

“Sent Ones give to God what belongs to God.”

Message: “Courage to serve” from Matt France

A message from the series “Courage.” COURAGE TO SERVE

~ISAIAH 59: 1 ESV
Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear;

There is not a person beyond the reach of God!

~MARK 10: 43-44 ESV
whoever would be great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all.

~MARK 10: 45 ESV
45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

~ACTS 9: 32-43 MSG
32-35 Peter went off on a mission to visit all the churches. In the course of his travels he arrived in Lydda and met with the believers there. He came across a man—his name was Aeneas—who had been in bed eight years paralyzed. Peter said, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed!” And he did it—jumped right out of bed. Everybody who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him walking around and woke up to the fact that God was alive and active among them.
36-37 Down the road a way in Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha. She was well-known for doing good and helping out. During the time Peter was in the area she became sick and died. Her friends prepared her body for burial and put her in a cool room.
38-40 Some of the disciples had heard that Peter was visiting in nearby Lydda and sent two men to ask if he would be so kind as to come over. Peter got right up and went with them. They took him into the room where Tabitha’s body was laid out. Her old friends, most of them widows, were in the room mourning. They showed Peter pieces of clothing Tabitha had made while she was with them. Peter put the widows all out of the room. He knelt and prayed. Then he spoke directly to the body: “Tabitha, get up.”
40-41 She opened her eyes. When she saw Peter, she sat up. He took her hand and helped her up. Then he called in the believers and widows, and presented her to them alive.
42-43 When this became known all over Joppa, many put their trust in Jesus.

1. People put their trust in Jesus because of Jesus!
~ACTS 9: 40-42 ESV
40 Peter put them all outside, and knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. 41 And he gave her his hand and raised her up. Then, calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive. 42 And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.

2. These people met Jesus because of Tabitha’s courage to serve
~ACTS 9: 36 ESV
36 there was in Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas. She was full of good works and acts of charity.

~ACTS 9: 39 ESV
39 when Peter arrived, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping and showing tunics and other garments that Dorcas (Tabitha) made while she was with them.

Tabitha created a means and served dignity to these women

Q1. “Where can you serve people in a way that it shows and reflects the faith that you have?”
Q2. What will it look like to courageously serve the faith you have?
